Calden’s blood awakened the green shard, filling him with radiant song. As the Mortem slaughtered the village, a Choir’mourn seized him, only to be obliterated by the shard’s light. The cursed armor crawled onto Calden, reshaping him into something ancient. Rising from ash, Corthanis drew his blade and roared for vengeance.

Ashen Oath: The Shattering, is the first telling of the rise of Mortem. It's a tragic story of one queen's desire to sustain peace, that cost her peoples freedom.
